Lanny Taulbee began his artistic endeavors as a child after he was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at the age of seven. This condition severely limited his physical activity, causing him to rely on the less strenuous pursuits of drawing, coloring, and painting. His talents include working in the mediums of oils, watercolor, acrylics, pencil, and ink. Nature is the primary subject of Lanny’s artwork. “Capturing the spirit of an animal through its eyes, “he states, “or drawing a tree to reveal its spirit beneath a rugged exterior, to me that’s what art is all about. Every plant, animal, stone, or mountain has something to say if we only listen. To me that’s what artists do; they listen to their subjects and translate their voices into a visual language.”

The inner strength and hope my art brings me helps me focus on inspiring others by not allowing my disabilities to stop me. Although being diagnosed with Bi-polar and ADDH, I am able to use my art to produce pieces that are very detailed in nature. I have found that I can use several mediums, such as charcoal, pencil/pen and an array of paints to unbridle the mental pictures that constantly flow from my mind.

"When I became disabled, I turned to my life-long interest in drawing and painting. Exhibits of my work opened up a new world, new friends, a new career. It sustained me." Genevieve A. Wilson has been creating artwork since the age of 12 when she received a watercolor set as a gift. Her favorite subjects are those she finds in memories of her childhood and her children. Because she tires easily from heart disease and a head injury sustained in an automobile accident, Wilson-Berry's artistic process can be time-consuming.
